There are many allergy medications on the market today, and some are required to treat severe allergies, but if you are someone like me who really shies away medication, today we are going to discuss natural treatments for mild to moderate seasonal allergies.

    Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has many great health properties and some religiously drink it daily. The belief is that apple cider vinegar can help to reduce mucus production and clean out your lymphatic system. It has also been shown to have properties that help with digestion, weight loss, and appetite control. If you aren’t someone who can stomach drinking it straight, simply mix a teaspoon with water

Honey not only works as a natural sweetener, but it can also work to help you avoid allergies during travel. The idea is that if you obtain local honey from where you are going or live and take a “shot” of it each day then it will help you adapt to many of the local allergies. While there aren’t too many studies done on this one, some people swear b it.

    Diet Changes

It’s no secret that your diet can have a lot of effect on your health and how you feel in general. There are some foods that are believed to actually help clear up your sinuses. Specifically – spicy foods, ginger, cayenne, online, or garlic to your meals to help alleviate some of the symptoms of your allergies. Some of the foods you are eating may also be increase your allergies, so check with your doctor to see if you could be having these problems.

    Neti Pot/Saline Spray

The neti pot helps you to rinse out your nasal cavity with saline. It helps to flush out the allergies and loosens mucus. You can actually find the neti pot or something similar at many drug stores. Saline works the same way and if you aren’t quite adventurous enough to try the neti pot yet, pick up some saline spray and use it to help break up mucus and clear out your nose. This is also helpful to use in between allergy seasons and even can help minimize your chances of a cold by keeping and rinsing out germs.

Essential oils are really taking of these days, and there have been a few oils that have been shown to help alleviate allergy symptoms. Some of these oils include: lavender, peppermint, lemon, eucalyptus, and chamomile. The easiest way to use these is simply to get a diffuser and put it beside your body. This will allow you to breathe in the oils while you sleep.

Allergies can be very frustrating, but if they haven’t gotten out of control yet try some of these simple solutions and see if they can alleviate some of your distress.
