  • Exercises You Can Do In The Office

    If you have the typical office job, you likely spend the majority of your day sedentary staring at a computer. This behavior has been repeatedly denounced because it is closely related to poor health conditions such as heart disease and diabetes. If you are looking for ways to stay fit, or tide you over until you can get to the gym, there are many exercises that you can do in the office without getting weird looks from your colleagues.

    For the most part, you will likely want to find exercises that you can do from the comfort of your chair or nearby. To increase the effectiveness of your office exercise, try to create circuits that you can do while performing your daily tasks. Some possible exercises that you could try or create an effective circuit from include:

    Providing that you have a sturdy chair, you can easily perform sets of dips throughout the day. Just scoot out of the chair slightly and begin your sets. By starting out with sets of 10, you can quickly and efficiently enhance your chest, shoulders and triceps without losing your productivity.

    Leg Lifts
    Since you will likely be at a desk for the majority of your day, leg lifts can be a great way to break up menial tasks that you may be working on. This is as simple as giving yourself enough room to fully extend your leg one at a time and holding for periods of 20 seconds before switching. Want an extra boost? Store some leg weights in your desk.

    Wall Sits
    It's no secret that wall sits burn. If you are a sucker for the pain that comes with pushing yourself to achieve your fitness goals, add wall sits to your daily work routine. Stand against the wall and slide your back down until you are in a sitting position, then hold on as long as possible.

    Stair Climbing
    If you are fortunate enough to work at a location that has a stairway, incorporating stair climbing exercises into your lunch break can be incredibly rewarding. Depending on the amount of time you have to spare, this can become a serious workout. Just set a timer for your desired minutes and start running or stepping.
