  • Foods That Help You Stay Cool


    Now that summer is finally here, it can be incredibly easy to let the heat get the best of you. If you aren't the type of person to spend the entire summer indoors, it's important to know what you can do to keep cool under the summer sun. Eat a bunch of these low-calorie foods to keep cool and full throughout the day.

    Cucumbers
    One of the most well-known cooling foods. Cucumbers contain a whole host of nutrients such as vitamins and minerals and due to their high water content, help to keep you cool and well hydrated. Put cucumber slices into a pitcher of cold water or just snack on them plain throughout the day.

    Watermelon
    A summer favorite! Watermelons are refreshing and full of minerals and since they are 92% water, are seriously low in calories. You can definitely just eat them on their own but what I like to do is to toss watermelon chunks into a blender with a half cup of ice and a few mint leaves. An incredibly refreshing and cooling drink for the summer!

    Fennel seeds
    These little seeds are commonly used in Indian cultures after meals to help digest food. If you’ve ever had them, you’ll know why they’re also a great cooling food. They have a mint like cooling effect in the mouth and are also low in calories and high in fiber and minerals. Snack on these throughout the day to keep your digestive system healthy and your body cool.

    Coconut Water
    Every hipster’s favorite drink. Coconut water is great for keeping cool and hydrated as they are high in electrolytes such as Potassium. Keep a couple coconuts in the fridge and whenever you feel the heat creeping up, crack one open and drink straight with a straw!
